Back in September, I did a post on my everyday makeup look. Since then my makeup routine has changed a lot, buying new products and using many more new brands. I've been really loving mac products, especially their blushes and lipsticks. Also, after trying many different products, I've finally found a foundation that matches my pale skin tone without washing me out. This post is an updated version of my everyday makeup look, I hope you enjoy!
Step one - face prep
First of all, I prep my face. You can find all the products I use to do this in my skincare routine post that I will be uploading very soon.
Step two - base
To prime my face, I use the Laura Mercier foundation primer in radiance. I absolutely love this product, it has a really lovely consistency and it gives the face a really beautiful and subtle glow all day long.
Next, I apply foundation all over my face. I have recently brought the Makeup For Ever Ultra HD foundation and I absolutely adore it. It is very lightweight but also really build-able. I use the shade 115=R230 and apply it with the real techniques expert face brush.
For concealer, I use Nars Radiant Creamy concealer in the shade Vanilla. I apply it in a large 'V' shape under my eyes, down the bride of my nose, under my cheekbones, on the centre of my forehead, on my cupids bow and centre of my chin and blend it all in with the real techniques miracle complexion sponge.
I then set all of my concealer with Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder in the shade transparent with a real techniques powder brush.
Step three - cheeks and contour
First of all, I take Benefit's Hoola bronzer and with the flat brush provided, I apply it in the hollows of my cheeks, my temples, the top of my forehead, under my jawline and down either side of my nose.
After using this bronzer, I lightly sweep over it with The Body Shop honey bronzing powder in 03 using a real techniques blush brush (As you can probably tell, I like a good contour)!
Next, I take Mac's powder blush in peaches and apply it on the apples of my cheeks with the Mac powder blush brush.
To conclude this step, I take my Mary Lou Manizer by theBalm (possibly my favourite ever make-up product) and highlight above my cheeks, down the centre of my nose, on my cupids bow and on my brow bone with the B. fan brush.
Step four - brows
I take a lot of pride in my brows, and I really like a bold and thick brow. My favourite brow product is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in the shade taupe. Taking this product, and their #12 brush, I firstly comb through my brows, lifting the hairs upwards as my hairs seem to point downwards. Then, starting with the bottom of each brow, I create a line going from the centre all the way out to end, extending them a little further as I have quite short brows (the consequence of over plucking when I was younger). I then take the product onto my arches, making them a little higher as I have naturally quite straight brows. I finally take the brush vertically and do really small, light strokes at the start of my brow so it makes the line I previously created a little less dramatic and a little more life like.
After using this product, I then set my brows using the Mac brow set in Beguile, brushing the hairs upwards again.
Finally, taking a real techniques concealer brush and the Nars concealer I used earlier, I carve out my brows, making them look more defined and shapely.
Step five - eyes
I tend not to wear eye shadow much. When I feel like it, I will take a dark brown colour on a fluffy brush and apply it to my outer V and under my bottom lash line to accentuate the colour and shape of my eyes but other than that, I tend not to use eye shadow.
I will always, without fail, however, apply a trusty cat-eye flick with my favourite liquid liner, Glam Eyes by Rimmel London. I will wear a cat-eye flick every day of my life, as it is just a staple of my make up look and I feel it makes my eyes look elongated.
I then take my Ted Baker eyelash curler to my eyelashes and apply whatever mascara I am using at the time as I am yet to find a mascara that I really love and will swear by forever. At the moment I am using Mac's zoom fast black lash as I received it as a free gift with a recent purchase I made online. It isn't a bad mascara at all but I don't know whether it is worth purchasing after I run out of my sample.
Step six - lips
I always find that no make up look is ever complete with bare lips. I know a lot of people who will apply all their make up and will leave their lips bare, but I feel like lips really bring a make up look together. I use different lip combinations depending on what mood I'm in on a certain day and what I'm wearing on the day makes a huge impact on what lip look I choose.
My favourite combinations at the moment are:
Mac Stripdown liner + Mac Viva Glam II lipstick
Mac Nightingale liner + Lancome L'absolu Rouge lipstick in 131 Pense a Moi
Rimmel exaggerate kiner in 104 Call me crazy + Maybelline Colorsensational Matte lipstick in 995 - Craving Coral.
Step seven - finishing
After I have applied all my make up, I finish it off by using Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. It is such a great product, it keeps my make up on all day long without it looking cakey.
So, that is my everyday make-up look. I know a lot of people may think that it is a lot for an everyday look but I like the way I do my make up and I prefer a fuller coverage to a simple look.
Here is the finished look:
I hope some of you can give me any amazing mascara recommendations, they will be highly appreciated.
